The high pegmatites of Gilgit-Baltistan and the Hunza and Shigar valleys produce some of the finest crystal specimens and gem rough in the world. Pakistan is celebrated for its water-clear aquamarine, gem topaz, peridot from Sapat, and superb tourmaline, often recovered as undamaged, terminated crystals prized equally as faceting rough and as mineral specimens.
